“Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size, but when I start to tell them, they think I'm telling lies. I say it's in the reach of my arms, the span of my hips, the stride of my step, the curl of my lips. I'm a woman. Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman, that's me.”

(The lovely and beautiful wife of DJ SNS)
Mrs.SNS@ladygliders.com

Greetings to all and welcome to the official site for the Lady Gliders skate club. My name is Veronica Jackson President and founder of the Lady Gliders skate club.

I am the proud mother of two beautiful and blessed children and the loving wife of the most magnificent man in my world, Gerrod Jackson a.k.a. DJ SNS, thus you have Mrs. SNS.

My dad and mom instilled godly morals and principles into my life at an early age. They introduced me to the world of roller-skating at 10 years of age. Me, my sister and brother knew on Sunday nights where we would be on Monday nights. That’s right; Monday night with Duane Daniels on the wheels of steel was Gospel Night at Shake & Bake. It was our family night out. God has a perfect plan for everything that happens to me. Who would have guessed that 18 years later I would find my husband, love and down right passion for this sport? It’s a blessing to have the love of your life sharing the same passion for skating as you do.

I started out as most people do, slow. I watched advanced and beginner skaters roll by and I aspired to get my roll on too. Therefore, after many years of Monday nights at Shake & Bake and Saturday nights at Orchard’s Skating Rink I developed my skills and not only did I get my roll on but I developed my smooth stride a.k.a. the glide. I have visited other roller-skating rinks but none feels as good to me as my home Shake & Bake.

While watching skate clubs on the rise such as the Midnight Angels, Skate-A-Licious, Mad Unity and the Magnificent Rollers (formally know as the Midnight Rollers 2000) inspired me to organize my own skate club. So, I contacted my sister, we organized the Lady Gliders and that’s the end of that story.

I love my skate family and thank God for all the love and support they have given me. Although this task is sometimes difficult the journey is worth all my effort and time. As I always say, “anything worth having is worth fighting for”.

The Lady Gliders has recruited 6 beautiful women; we all have sisterly love for each other and not to mention we also love to skate.

I thank God everyday for my life, family and the ladies of the Lady Gliders skate club.

Veronica Jackson - President & Founder

(Rich, sweet and always smooth.)

My name is Veronica. I am the treasurer for the “Lady Gliders” skate club.

Roller-skating has and always will be one of my favorite and enjoyable past time sports. I’m no skating connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination but I have enjoyed roller-skating for some 33 years, as it is fun, therapeutic and a great channel for meeting new people.

Most of my Shake and Bake skate family know me as Monday night Gospel Skate Hostess, Founder of the Gospel Skate Committee, Shake and Bake Advisory Board President along with a host of other named titles and positions.

I have always been an outgoing person. My greatest joy in life is helping others to get the most out of life. I have always been a promoter of positivism. My children (2 ladies and 1 gentlemen), family, and outer-circle of friends are the recipients of this endeavor.

When my daughter “Veronica Jackson”, a.k.a. Boobie or Mrs. SNS told me that she was going to start her own skate club I knew my chickens had come home to roost and that a new chapter in my daughter’s life of womanhood had opened. Veronica has always exemplified lady-like qualities, as did both my “lil” ladies and I would not have missed out on the opportunity to support her.

I realized that taking on a task such as this would require some back up and I am delighted that an entourage of beautiful ladies surrounds her. Towanda, a.k.a. “Blackberry” gives her mad siesta love, Danielle her VP covers her back, Ms. Elegant Charming and Delightful Jataime balances the group while Denise our supporter breaks out her reinforcements. It has been a joy for me to interact with such a blend of lovely ladies.

I am sure there will be more ladies to come but in the mean time and in between time these ladies offer their hearts and minds and I will promote them to the fullest extent of SK8 love.

In closing but not all exclusive, skate clubs have been around for many, many years and yet it warms my heart to see new skate clubs on the up rise. There is a great number of skate clubs that have set the stage for others but I would be remised if I didn’t pay homage to skate clubs that I have watched over the years such as the “Coast to Coast Rollers”, “Roller Supremes” and “Awesome Women” for setting my stage of true skate club government and finesse.

I have learned from them that it’s all about respecting and supporting one another. Promote positivism lean back and watch your group mature.

So on that note, hold it down “Lady Gliders”, as you never know who’s watching you.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I have been skating and enjoying this hobby for almost nineteen years. Shake and Bake has always been my home, even back in its Baltimore Neighborhood Recreation Facilities days.

The atmosphere is lovely and the company is cool. Just hanging out with my roller skating family brings a smile to my face.

I am so happy and overwhelmed to be a part of The Lady Gliders skate club. We are a team of strong, positive and by the way lovely ladies. We thank you for accepting us, and we look forward to the days to come, Glide on ya’ll…

(Enforces The Law)

Let me start with thanking the Lady Gliders for having me on their team. I was first introduced to the sport of skating at the age five, and it was called street skating not roller-skating. I was always interested in skating no matter what it was called. My sisters and I would always get a pair of skates for Christmas (ball barring #five is what they were called) and as we became older we decided to visit Shake-N-Bake Family fun Center in Baltimore.

My twin sister and I became familiar with the skate sessions and decided to go on a regular Wednesday and Sunday twenty-five and older night. My sister then got married, and I no longer had a skate partner but I continued to go. I was always looking forward to these nights, it was like I was a junkie for the sport. If I could go every night then I would, but I had my three children to take care of so I was limited to the nights that I could skate.

I skate most Sundays, but now that I'm a part of this wonderful club I know that I will be skating more often. Ladies, I'm so excited to be a part of this club and I'll do what ever is required of me to ensure that we as a club achieve all that we set out to do.

To our president, I'm a team player, and you have all my support. Again let me thank you for accepting me to be a part of your team.

God Bless us all.

(Highly Stylish and Elegant)
ClassyT@ladygliders.com

I am honored and proud to be a member of the Lady Gliders. I am excited and ready for this new venture. It is incredible to see how roller-skating is evolving and the positive impact that it has had and will continue to have on our community, especially with the onset of skate clubs and the energy that the clubs bring to the sport.

I have been skating on and off for about thirty-something years. I have always had a special place in my heart for skating from the beginnings on the streets of Baltimore and then on to the warehouses around the city and the movie theater (Liberty Heights Ave) that became skating rinks for a short time. Then there was the one and only Painters Mill and Columbia Skate land (and all the bus trips on the yellow school buses) and finally, Shake and Bake, in which I am proud to say has a legacy of its own that is constantly developing. I was skating every chance that I got. As a child, my parents knew how to keep me in line because the first consequence was not to be able to go skating on the weekend. I was not having it, so they got very little trouble out from me. I was happy when I learned to drive because it was really on then and I started traveling with my friends to Alexandria (my favorite), Seabrook, Crystal Skate and I even made it to Kaloroma once before it closed. I could not get enough of the good feeling that came along with gliding across the wood to the classic skate jams as well as the new. My skates were one of the first items that I packed as I made my way to college down Route 1 to the University of Maryland. Skating was a stress releaser and no matter what was happening on campus, my roommate and I were in Alexandria on Saturday night getting our skate on.

As I got older, I began to see the health benefits of skating because when my life really started happening, my time to skate decreased and so did my metabolism, then I started skating again and my metabolism increased and then my skate time decreased again and so did my metabolism. So, here I am again, in attempt to start up this metabolism again as well as release some stress while meeting some new people, reuniting with others and sharing and caring with others who love to skate.

I am excited with the resurgence of skate clubs and the commitment of unity and community service by these organizations to promote positivism. Most of all, I am grateful to all for keeping the sport of roller skating alive to introduce and pass on to the younger generations for enjoyment, fellowship and good health.

A special Thank you to the Lady Gliders for selecting me as an addition to your skate club. I look forward to life long relationships with each of you as we continue to love and mature as a group and individually, while GLIDING in a way that only a Lady Glider can.
